Supporting the Post-High School Journey: Charting Paths


Speech-language pathologists play an integral role in helping students make effective transitions out of high school into post-secondary education, employment, and independent living. Many transition-related supports fall into our scope of practice but tapping into the skills of a cross-disciplinary team can boost the benefits for students—and help ease our workload. In addition to the required IEP team members, involving school counselors and vocational rehabilitation counselors who can contribute their expertise in areas such as career planning and community employment is beneficial.
