Happy Flag Day, everyone! Do you know how Flag Day came into existence?
Flag Day was first observed on June 14, 1885, when 19-year-old school teacher Bernard J. Cigrand placed a 38-inch star flag in a bottle on his desk. The school teacher then tasked students with writing essays discussing the flag's significance. Cigrand, who later switched careers to become a dentist in Illinois, continued to promote his vision and advocate respect for the flag throughout his life.
